Random Doll Wednesday - Big Chief Studios 11th Doctor

A bit of an unusual doll for today but I'm currently working my way through all of the episodes of Doctor Who (starting from the 9th Doctor) and decided it was time to share a couple of my pics of my Big Chief Studios 11th Doctor.

If I'm honest I do struggle to get any decent photographs - I'm not sure if it's the bulkiness of the outfit, or the fact that Matt Smith is always so full of like that it is impossible to capture him in plastic form.

That being said...his accessories are a lot of fun to play with...

Random Toy Tuesday - Li'l Zelfs

Ahh! More Zelfs! I'm obsessed and need zelf-help!

I also need to stop making bad Zelf related puns!

Anyway, because these little tiny guys have been sorely neglected on here, here are a couple of my miniature Zelfs.

Each Zelf has three Li'l versions - each with a different finish (plain, pearl and glitter).

I'm trying to tell myself I don't need to obsessively collect them all.

I'm failing.

Toy Review - Novi Stars 'Curl N' Coil' Tily Vizon

Tily Vizon is my second Novi Stars purchase. My first was Alie Lectric, and I rushed to a near-by shop to buy her on the day she was released. Unfortunately I have to admit that I was disappointed by her. Visually she was so cute, and I loved the whole alien theme, but I was really sad to find out that she had literally no pose-ability, and found I couldn't really bond with her.

So when I saw pictures of Tily Vizon, and saw that she had a bit more pose-ability I was really excited and ran out to get her...

Sadly she still doesn't have any elbow or knee joints (which the promo picture really did make it look as though she had). However - the movement options have improved slightly with shoulder and thigh joints...woo!

Style-wise I absolutely adore this doll. I love the bright colours in her hair and outfit and her face is all kinds of beautiful...

Tily comes with a 'hair gimic' which I would normally avoid like the plague. But in this case the wires and funky hair really suit her style and blend in nicely with the robot theme.

The long silver strands of hair can be pulled tightly to form crazy silver curls (or coils!) ...

Her hair in generally is really nicely styled - she has quite a retro hair style going on. She also comes with what may be the coolest hair accessories ever - mini plug sockets!

Keeping her company is her faithful pet Telepuppy, who has a rotating head with different facial expressions to choose from:

In general I find Tily Vizon to be an unusual and beautiful doll, and I have no regrets in buying her. Do I wish they would add in more joints for some posing fun? Yes. That said - she is so quirky, and so much fun to photograph that I can forget that flaw and just enjoy her and her awesome style.

Toy Review - I've found Miss Clover the Zelf...

...well actually she found me as I came home from a spectacularly bad day at work to find her waiting for me!

Miss Clover is the rare 'hard to find' Zelf in the medium range. After much speculation about how we get our hands on her...it turns out she's a mail-away! In the UK you can get her by completing a slip which is on the back cover of the Zelfs magazine and sending it, along with receipts which show you've spent £30 in total on Zelfs products, to an address provided. She will then be posted to you free of charge...awesome much? There are 1000 of these cuties ready to go to a good home in the UK!

However...I have discovered this evening that you can also get the voucher to complete here...http://www.evolutioncomps.co.uk/zelfsukmumstv so no magazine needed...yay!

My Miss Clover arrived very quickly - 3 days to be precise, which is amazing service and I'm loving the company behind this toy like more and more every day.

There is nothing I don't love about Miss Clover - she's as special as I thought she would be (and completely glittery - amazing!). And so, without further ado...be prepared for a crazy number of photos!

Here are here pretty clover leaf wings...

She's comes with the most special of charms - unlike the other Zelfs, hers is made out of metal...

And as if that wasn't enough she also includes a golden token to tell you what number Miss Clover you've been lucky enough to receive...

Mine is number 569 of 10,000 - that's right, there are 10,000 of these little beauties out there in the world! The metal charm also has the number stamped on the back.

I don't think my photos do her colour much justice - she's a very pretty green, but I don't think my camera is a fan of all the sparkles! I'm definitely going to try a few different photoshoots and backgrounds for her, so stay tuned for more pictures!

If you're a fan of The Zelfs (who isn't?!) then good luck finding her!

Random Toy Tuesday

My little Canimals Nia is my random toy for today - I really need to look into the background of these toys - I think they're Korean, but I have no idea why they're Canimals - part can part animal maybe?

Regardless of her background I find her to be incredibly cute - look at that little face - she has the same look of complete bemusement as my cat.

Toy Review - Pinkie Cooper

Never before have I been more unsure about a toy. Before seeing Pinkie 'in the plastic' I thought she was kinda weird but at the same time I was a wee bit interested in her (it may be time for me to accept that I like weird!).

So here she is...an anthropomorphic dog....wearing cat print clothing. And then it gets a little weirder as she comes with her pet...um...dog - Li'l Pinkie:

This Pinkie is from the Jet Set range and she's dressed ready for her holiday in Beverley Hills (Beverley Hills Chihuahua anyone?).

A nice feature of these dolls is that their ears can be removed (very easily) and swapped over. This means that for dual colour ears you can change the main focus of colour from blonde to brunette and vice versa - I haven't quite decided if I prefer my Pinkie as blonde or brunette.

Pinkie comes with a cute little outfit, including the glasses shown above and a pink handbag (which doesn't open...boo). While I think her outfit suits her I'm absolutely chomping at the bit to find some more neutral clothes for her to wear - I think it would really suit her colouring.

After my little photo shoot today my favourite photos by far have been those where there was no pink involved!

Nude, Pinkie has some nice shading on her arms and legs...

I didn't get a photo, but Pinkie also comes with a sticker advertising her holiday in Beverley Hills and a really pretty comb. Unfortunately there is no stand and I haven't found one that quite works for her yet.

I definitely think I'll be buying more Pinkie Cooper dolls. They have so much character and the potential for fun. I would have loved for them to have a bit more articulation but that's honestly my only complaint. I'm no longer unsure about what I think about Pinkie Cooper and her friends - I love them and need some more!

Friday Favourites - Monster High Outfits

A few of my favourite custom outfits for Monster High dolls today - all from Etsy and via my Pinterest board.

I pretty much love anything rainbow related at the moment, so I love this look for Operetta...

Old school glamour (but very happy that it's fake - real fur is a no-no for me):

This little t-shirt dress captures Howleen's style really nicely

Lolitta Frankie - pretty much?

I love this corset for Robecca - I have some small watch parts around somewhere so think I can feel a custom project coming on!

Random Doll Wednesday - Monster High Operetta

A few head-shots of my Monster High Operetta dolls today. I absolutely love the design of this doll (dare I say she might be my joint favourite with Ghoulia). However - her hair scares the hell of uf me. It's a mess but I'm so afraid that I'll never be able to style it again that I'm leaving it well alone.

I find her make-up and the marking on her face to be so beautiful. Add that to her rockabilly style and music theme and she's just about perfect.

Oh...and she totally rocks the glasses.

Random Toy Tuesday - Wonder Woman

A little bit of a super-powered toy for you today. I love Wonder Woman - I have ever since I was tiny and saw here spinning around on my TV screen. Ever since then she has held a special place in my heart as my favourite female of the comic universe.

The paint work on this figure isn't perfect - hence the lack of a close-up shot. When I'm feeling brave I may try to do a re-paint. I also kind of wish her lasso of truth was removable and she could be posed with it - how much fun would that be? Still, the new costume is kind of awesome and she's totally working it so I can forgive a few niggles. Oh - and she's wearing dark red nail varnish. A superhero who still makes time to paint her nails?

Amazing.

Toy Review - Lunanne the Zelf

So as I posted yesterday, my current most loved new toy are Zelfs. The latest edition to my collection is Lunanne, so I thought I'd make her my review of this week (although be prepared for more Zelf reviews as I work through my collection!).

Lunanne is a Moon Fairy Zelf. Each Zelf comes with a little plastic charm and Lunanne's is a moon (naturally)...

She's the more gorgeous blue with a hint of purple - perfect for the night sky, but with bright yellow hair.

I love the graduation of her colour down to her pale toes as well, very pretty. Being a fairy she has some sparkly wings...

...and a cute little star beauty mark...

These toys are surprisingly fun to play with, despite only having 5 points of articulation. There is a lot of expression going on in those little faces, and their hair presents endless hours of styling entertainment

As well as the charm each figure comes with a checklist (oh how I love checklists), a comb and some little elastic bands for further hair styling fun.

I'm completely smitten, I can't deny it so my review is biased - I love little Lunanne and think that for the price (£5.99) she's an excellent addition to toy stashes belonging to people of any age.

A new addiction is born....Zelfs!

I may have a problem...it's a small plastic problem with lots of hair and goes by the name of 'Zelf'. They come in three sizes - with the smallest being blind packaged, and have the tag-line 'love your Zelf'. Cute, right?

My collection started, as all my collections do, with a statement that went something along the lines of 'oh, they're cute, I'll just buy one'. My collection currently stands at 5 and looks like it could keep growing.

Here are my Zelfs so far:

From top to bottom: Elfa, Flamy, Mermalade, Angelala and Lunanne. These are all medium sized dolls, and so far I think this size is my favourite (although fully expect to end up succumbing to the larger size Zelfs soon!).

I find these little guys to be incredibly photogenic and love taking pics of them. Something about them reminds me of the miniature sized BJDs (maybe their eyes?). More of my photos of them can be found on my Flickr Zelfs set here: My Zelfs. I've also set up a group on there which currently has a grand total of one member - so if you're a fan please join up and share the love! The Zelfs Zone.

The official Zelf website is here: http://thezelfs.com/, although there isn't much there yet.

Stay tuned for more Zelf news as and when it breaks!

And remember to love your Zelf (couldn't resist). xx
